Janssen Wrestles Top 5 Finish away from High Point

Coming off “the best weekend he had ever had [in his racing career]” at Muddy Creek, Cody Janssen and his crew looked forward to keeping the ball rolling as the world’s most prestigious ATV racing series headed to Pennsylvania. The next stop on the Mountain Dew AMA ATV Motocross National Championship tour was High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, PA. Janssen, along with the rest of the planet’s best ATV racers, were set to do battle on the storied hillside outside of Morgantown, WV.

Cody Janssen put the #40 on the Pro Am podium in Tennessee and was out for blood looking to do it again. Cody would set himself up well for another podium appearance in Pro Am Moto 1 as he made some quick passes early to get to the 3rd place position where he would stay for most of the moto before finishing up 4th. But before Moto 2, the rains came; the second moto would end up being a deluge. Janssen, who has proven to be one of the craftiest and most clever riders on the track, came in for goggles 2 different times to attacked the severely muddy conditions. His impromptu plan worked as he finished inside the top 10 even with the pit stops and his 4-9 score was enough for a top 5 overall.

The pride of Wisconsin and reigning AMA ATV Pro Rookie of the Year, Cody Janssen, was also coming off of his career best in the Pro Class at Muddy Creek. High point wouldn’t be as kind to the #40. Cody showed his new-found confidence with his riding but a holeshot crash in Pro Moto 1 and another tangle in Moto 2 put a damper on the day. As he raced up through the back, tripling over another rider, Janssen got in yet another tangle, and that pretty much capped his day. He will be looking for more career-bests at Ironman Mx down in Indiana next week!

“[A weekend like this is] tough.” Janssen said following his Pro races on Saturday. “To have people say that they were announcing me as the fastest rider outside the top 5 [in the Pro Class], it just feels like a missed opportunity. I felt pretty good today but sometime it’s out of our control, first turn crashes and stuff….But with the way the weekend went, and all the mud, I’m very happy about the top 5 in Pro Am! Top 5s and podiums are how you fight for championships, we’re putting ourselves in the middle of this championship hunt and I can’t wait for Crawfordsville! I’ve been waiting for this one for a long time!”

Consistent performances wouldn’t be possible without great care and support from the people that support Cody and his racing. He must thank his parents/family and the rest of the Janssen Motorsports crew; Thank you to Elka Suspension for everything they do for #40, phenomenal products and even better people. Also, Corrosion Specialties and the Parrish Family, Maxxis Tires, SSI Decals, Walsh Racecraft, Londerville Steel, Valvoline, Koster Racing, FMF, Hinson Clutch Components, DP Brakes, Thor MX, 100%, Oshkosh Tattoo and Good Girl Piercing, Napa of Peru, Indiana; FourWerx Carbon, Sconnie Nation, Piping Service INC., DT-1 Filters, Sunstar Sprockets, D.I.D Chains, Galfer USA, Rath Racing, Pivot Works, CP-Carrillo, Dynamite ATV, Tweeked Powderworks, Honda East Toledo, Works Connection, Don Straus, Pro-Tec, Jeremy Edwards at Edwards Auctioneering, Corey Garrison at Parts Unlimited, Terry Moore at Advanced Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, Dynamic Graphics, Team AndyStrong, his phenomenal mechanics (Joel Janssen, Todd Blom, Chris Ginger, and Dan Binder), Haley Davis, and everyone else that supports him.
