Janssen Wins RedBud, his 33rd National Overall Victory
REEEED BUDDDD!!! If you’re an American Motocross fan, the mention of this historic place gets your blood pumping. RedBud Track and Trail, located in Buchanan, Michigan, is one of that most storied facilities in all of motocross. This past weekend it was the place to be as the world’s best ATV motocross athletes invaded southwestern Michigan. Fan favorite, Cody Janssen, came to town looking for a victory after finishing as a very close runner-up in the last two ATVMX National series events. Janssen refers to RedBud as one of, if not his favorite, track on the circuit. Year after year, the rider of the #25 Cody Janssen Riding School/Swartfager Farms Honda has had more success at RedBud than any other track across the country. He looked to continue that trend here in 2018 at Round 9 of the ATV Motocross National Championship series.
Cody Janssen aboard his Janssen Motorsports engine (powered by Pivot Works) was fast from the minute they rolled it off the truck. Mother nature looked to potentially throw a wrench into things however, as rain expected throughout the weekend looked to be a factor. Thankfully, though both motos were wet, it was by no means a wash out. Janssen somehow avoided a major wreck during Moto 1 with what people were calling the “save of the weekend” (see photos on Cody Janssen’s Facebook or Instagram). He was still able to secure a 2nd place finish, just behind the leader, and put himself in position for the overall win with a victory in Moto 2. When Sunday rolled around he did just that, grabbed the holeshot and led from start to finish en route to another win, his 33rd National overall victory of his career. Cody Janssen is your RedBud National Champion in the Junior 25+ division!
“It doesn’t get any better than winning at RedBud!” Cody Janssen said with excitement from atop the Podium Sunday. “I work hard, train hard, and sacrifice a lot but this feeling makes it all worth it. I am so thankful for all of my great supporters that make this dream a reality….With the way the track was this weekend, [I] had to be smart out there. We did what we needed do and I am so pumped to get this win!”
Cody’s consistency has been unmatched this season, finishing 1st or 2nd in every moto all season long. His speed has also been on display. Not only did he grab the win this weekend, his 33rd National overall victory of his career, but he also had the fastest lap times in each moto and the fastest lap time of the day on Friday. All this success is made possible by the world class products he uses and the support he receives from so many great companies and individuals. A special thanks goes to Pivot Works/Vertex/Hot Cams/Hot Rods/Cylinder Works/All Balls Racing for their help in building a powerhouse of an engine. He must thank all the riders and families that support and attend the Cody Janssen Riding School. Another huge thank you goes out to the Swartfager Family at Swartfager Farms and Knox Country Farm Supply, this 2018 season wouldn’t be possible without you! Cody’s pursuit of National Championships comes while using CST Tires and Elka Suspension, both industry leaders – thank you to CST Tires, Elka Suspension, as well as Impact Solutions for all the support!
