Janssen Triumphs in Honor of His Father, Winning 2023 Loretta Lynn's ATV National Title
(Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.August 13, 2023) – Well-known Former AMA ATV Pro, multi-time ATV Motocross National Champion, and current host of the Digging Deep ATVMX Podcast, Cody Janssen, brings over two and a half decades of racing experience with him to the starting gates – matching his familiar number twenty-five emblazoned on his ATV. Throughout his career, Cody's most unwavering companion and biggest supporter has undoubtedly been his father, Joel. However, a stroke suffered by his father earlier this year would alter life as they know it for the Janssen family. Driven by an intensified determination, Janssen aimed to secure a victory not just for himself, but also for his father, who stood by his side for a countless number of races over the years. As the 2023 Loretta Lynn's ATV Motocross National approached, Cody Janssen found himself fueled by moremotivation than ever before.
Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, reigns as the global epicenter of motocross racing each and everysummer. It's the location of the most prestigious amateur motocross event on the planet, followed by the ATV Motocross season finale each August. During this period, the iconic venue commands the undivided attention of the industry as all eyes shift their focus to "The Ranch". More motocross dreams are realized at this historic facility than anywhere else on earth. And as the world's fastest ATV racers rolled into the tranquil little Tennessee town, the cavalcade brought with it a familiar face (and voice) of the ATV racing community.
The stroke that sent ripples through the Janssen family struck Joel on the eve of the Sunset Ridge ATV National in May. Consequently, Cody initially had aspirations of securing a victory at that very event as a tribute to his father. However, an engine issue in practice derailed any hope of that endeavor. In the time since, Cody has been immersed in covering all things ATV racing on the Digging Deep ATVMX Podcast, and he even took up the role of announcing the penultimate round of the ATV Motocross National Championship racing at Briarcliff. Yet, the moment had arrived for Cody Janssen to take his talents back onto the racetrack.
Cody Janssen and his wife, Brooke, traveled to Tennessee with one goal in mind, but after a turbulent summer, the couple may have appreciated their time at the track more than ever before.Mother Nature desperately wanted her part in this story, as days of massive rain during the motorcycle event left the track saturated, soft, and deeply rutted. However, by Saturday morning the track had really come around and even though stray showers still threatened throughout the weekend, a favorable racetrack greeted Janssen for his motos on both Saturday and Sunday. And as for the results, they were never in doubt as the pilot of the #25 ripped two great holeshots and led every lap en route to a perfect 1-1 performance for 1st overall in the highly competitive Junior 25+ division of ATV motocross competition. Cody Janssen had won the 2023 Loretta Lynn’s ATV Motocross National in the Junior 25+ class, he had successfully won the prestigious event in honor of his father.
“What a week at The Ranch!” Cody Janssen posted to his verified social media account. “Following my dad's stroke, I really wanted to win one of these things for him — so I'm stoked to bring him home some hardware. It's been a crazy summer, but with the help of 38 Motorsports I got my YFZ450R back up and running just in time for Loretta's. Brooke and I traveled to Tennessee on next to no riding time and came home with a 25+ Loretta Lynn's title. I'm humbled by how many of you sought me out this weekend to share kind words and support for the Digging Deep ATVMX Podcast and myself, for that I am so grateful. Thanks to all my supporters and my loved ones for continuing on the ride with me. This surely is a dream.”
Loretta's marked Cody’s first win on a Yamaha since early 2006, dating back to his years riding the iconic Yamaha Blaster – it was the 43rd national event overall victory for the now 31-year-old. Cody would like to thank all of his supporters that continue their backing of the four-time National Champion, starting with all the loyal listeners and partners of his Digging Deep ATVMX Podcast. A huge thank you goes to Yamaha Outdoors, Wienen Motorsports, PEP Performance Tuning, and Paul Turner for their great deal of support and guidance. Thanks for the continued support to SSI Decals, CST Tires, Valvoline, Elka Suspension, FMF Racing, and All Balls Racing Group – without the continued support of these long-time believers none of this would be possible. Thank you to his family, wife Brooke, mechanic Dan Binder, and the rest of the crew at Janssen Motorsports. Extreme gratitude continues to GPS Offroad Products, Hemauer Financial Group – Ameriprise Financial Services, E-Z UP Instant Shelters, Klink Equipment and Klink Hydraulics, Jay Gobel at Impact Solutions, Hinson Clutch Components, Thor MX, Parts Unlimited, D.I.D Chain, Atlas Brace, Cliff Cox and Oshkosh Tattoo & Good Girl Piercing, Precision Powder LLC, Bell Helmets, 100% Goggles, DT1 Filters, Larry Mills and DP Brakes, Rath Racing, Walsh RaceCraft, Fourwerx Carbon, Sunstar Sprockets, Works Connection, Renthal, Pro-Tec Racing, B.C.C. Skids, Evans Waterless Powersports Coolant, Blenders Eyewear, Rocket Machining and Design, Rocky Mountain ATV MC, producer Dallas Janssen, and many others. Without such incredible support, the continued pursuit of dreams and goals would not be possible. Cody Janssen and his Yamaha YFZ450R will return in 2024 with hopes of adding to his 43 national event win total, 4 National Championships (including back-to-back titles in 2019 & 2020), and all the priceless memories made along the way. As for his father, Joel Janssen, he continues to improve every day with his sights set on a full recovery.
Up next on the schedule, Cody Janssen will play host to the Digging Deep ATV Ride Day at Briarcliff Motocross in Nashport, Ohio, on Saturday October 7th. We would be honored if you’d come out and join us for a day of open riding and togetherness as an ATV community!
